Julie Wallace has been creating and teaching art since 2010. Her digital illustrations are printed in limited editions with archival ink on high-quality cotton rag or heavy weight glossy papers. Wallace received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master in Art Teaching from George Mason University.
Inviting painting traditions and graphic illustration techniques into my process, I playfully depict scenes of womanhood, domesticity, and simple pleasures. In the process of constructing these images, I use a variety of source material: fashion magazines, interior design, and digital bric-à-brac that competes for our attention. Using composition, color, and a multi-layered approach I create environments dense with whimsy, wonder, and references to our digital lives and interior-selves.
